Start: 2:00 pm
Sie FilmCenter/Colfax: Join the Tattered Cover Book Store, UCD’s College of Arts & Media, and Sie FilmCenter (in the Lowenstein CulturePlex, next door to the Tattered Cover Colfax Avenue) for an exploration of the world of classic movies, hosted by film critic Howie Movshovitz. All programs begin at 2:00 pm. Admission is $1.00. Tickets are available one hour before screening. Parking is avilable in the parking lot off of Elizabeth or Columbine Streets. This month we’ll see the 1970 Albert and David Maysles, and Charlotte Zwerin classic Gimme Shelter. The Maysles brothers changed the face of documentary filmmaking with their observational style (they called it “direct cinema”), and this film about the Rolling Stones’ disastrous concert in Altamont, California—four people died, one by murder—observes what may be the exact moment when the 1960s ended. It’s also been called the greatest rock concert film ever.
