Sie FilmCenter/Colfax: Join the Tattered Cover Book Store, UCD’s College of Arts & Media, Colorado Public Radio, and Sie FilmCenter (in the Lowenstein CulturePlex, next door to the Tattered Cover Colfax Avenue) for an exploration of the world of classic movies, hosted by Colorado Public Radio film critic Howie Movshovitz. All programs begin at 2:00 pm. Admission is free, but tickets are required from the box office. Tickets are available one hour before screening. Parking is avilable in the parking lot off of Elizabeth or Columbine Streets. This month we’ll see the 1991 Jim Jarmusch classic Night on Earth. The film tells five different stories set in taxis in five different cities in five different countries at exactly the same time. At least four of the stories are hilarious, occasionally ribald or profane, led by (among the cast) Gena Rowlands, Winona Ryder, Roberto Benigni, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Isaach De Bankolé, Giancarlo Esposito and Rosie Perez. At times it’ll make your jaw drop.
