Historic LoDo: Dr. Timothy Standring is the Gates Foundation Curator of Painting and Sculpture at the Denver Art Museum and curator of Becoming Van Gogh, a world-exclusive exhibition of more than 70 of Van Gogh’s paintings and drawings from around the world. Dr. Standring will present a look at the process of bringing Becoming Van Gogh to life. From negotiating loans from more than 60 public and private collections, to the travel required to acquire these treasures, Timothy will share behind-the-scenes stories of an exhibition that has been years in the making. Guests are invited to join us at 7 pm for a light refreshments provided by Whole Foods Market prior to the presentation. Denver Art Museum’s website

Colfax Avenue: Daniel Grandbois, who holds an MFA in poetry from Bennington College, is the author of the Believer Book Award Reader Survey Selection and ABA Indie Next Notable Book Unlucky Lucky Days and the art novel The Hermaphrodite: An Hallucinated Memoir. He lives in Colorado and tours extensively in North America and Europe with the band Slim Cessna’s Auto Club. Grandbois will read from and sign his new book Unlucky Lucky Tales (Texas Tech U. Press), a collection of inventive, disconcerting, and hilarious modern-day fables.
