Colfax Avenue: Actor and historical fiction author C.C. Humphreys will read from and sign his new novel A Place Called Armageddon (Sourcebooks), a vivid and gripping story that will leave fans believing they’ve witnessed the siege of Constantinople, from within and outside its walls, circa 1453.Gregoras had vowed never to return to Constantinople, the cursed home
that had betrayed and scarred not only his mind, but his face, for all
to see. But now with 100,000 Muslim soldiers outside its walls, he can
hear its desperate calls for his help, as it can only be held by men and
mercenaries as skilled in battle as Gregoras, of which few remain. His return home, though, will mean not only having to face the constant
hum of arrow and cannon, but also Theon, twin brother...and betrayer.
And with him his beloved Sofia, lost when Gregoras was cast from his
home, now bound to Theon in marriage. But the rewards of victory would
not only be the glories of the battle, but the redemption of his name
and his soul.

Historic LoDo: Stephen Tobolowsky is a character actor—one of the most prolific screen and stage presences of our time—having appeared in productions that range from Deadwood to Glee, from Mississippi Burning to Groundhog Day. Tobolowsky will read from and sign his new collection of essays and stories The Dangerous Animals Club (Simon & Schuster). “Stephen Tobolowsky has found his true calling as a storyteller. He is candid, insightful, often profound, and very, very funny, especially when he recounts his adventures in show business. By blending sharp memories of his childhood with astute, adult observations of the world around him, he weaves a spell not unlike Jean Shepherd or Garrison Keillor—but he has a voice all his own, and I love it.” —Leonard Maltin, film critic and author
